Scouts and Parents,
This past week we had meetings with the scouts and
the Committee. A brief
overview is below.
First things first…
Our next meeting is Monday February 25th, 2008.
This will be our Court of
honor meeting and will be held at St. Jude School at
7:00 pm. All parents
are invited and scouts should be in their full Class
A uniforms. This
meeting should last about an hour and refreshments
will be provided.
Listed below is a summary of the PLC and Troop
Committee meetings. If
anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to
contact myself or any of
the Troop Committee members.
Thanks again to all our parents for their support
and their great scouts,
Nov 26, 2007
hello Scouts and Parents!
December is a busy time for everyone, including Scouts! First I want to say thank you to all the scouts who participated
in the Wreath and Popcorn Sales we had. Preliminary numbers indicate we did a good job and everyone should be congratulated
for all their efforts.
Tonight, at our regular meeting, we start working on Family Life (Eagle required) so make sure you don’t miss
out on getting this started.
Next item up is our Christmas Party scheduled for December 10th at the Scout House. Each family is asked to bring one
side dish and one dessert. Bring enough for your family plus two more persons. That should insure we have enough to go around.
As in the past, the Troop will provide the meat so the side dishes are up to you.
On the 14th and 15th we will have our annual lock-in and LaserQuest games. The scouts will be playing 3 games. The cost
is $15 total for the three games and we have reservations for 30 already booked.
Lastly, with Christmas Eve and New Years Eve both on Monday’s this year we will not have our regular troop meetings
those days.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Party (if not before!)
Sincerely,
Tim Lauer

October 1 2007,
Scouts,
Our regular scout meeting will begin at 7:00 pm tonight. We also will have a PLC meeting that will
begin a half hour before at 6:30 pm.
All newly elected leadership scouts will meet at 6:30 for their first PLC meeting. We will go over
plans for the upcoming month, the October campout, skills your patrol members want to learn, rank advancements in your patrols,
and also the upcoming fundraisers. If you are a patrol leader, or just interested in what a PLC does, come early and
find out! We would love to see you there!
Parents, please check with your scouts to see if they were just elected and help us have a well attended
PLC!

other Business:
After the Regular Troop meeting we had a Committee meeting. We will
be spending some time with the Scouts reminding them about the BSA Law and the Code of Conduct expected at Camp. We
do not expect any problems as we have great Scouts, but we will remind them of our high expectations.
Parents are especially invited to our June 4th and June 11th
meeting dates. Many adults will welcome the Board of Review Training which will be offered on the 4th.
Also, at this meeting and the Court of Honor on the 11th, it is important to answer any questions parents have
about Summer Camp so come see our scouts ‘Rank Up’, and find out what you need to know about Geiger!
Venture Crew Business:
Watch for emails as this is my preferred way of keeping parents and Scouts
informed. There are details and events planned for June, July and August so watch for details.
CanoeBase is scheduled for July 12th through July 21st.
George will be meeting with us in June to cover final payments and details about this trip. We still have a full compliment
(two crews) attending and people on the waiting list so if you can’t make it let me know ASAP!
Scuba Certification is scheduled at Captain Jeans August 9th
through August 12th. It looks like a full group going to this as well! Cost for the Certification is
approximately $175-$190. If you are going to SeaBase in 2008 you will need to be certified!
Mowing Schedule: The mowing schedule has been out for several weeks now. Just a reminder to our Scouts, it’s important to
take care of our responsibilities and if you can’t make your assigned dates, change with someone so the mowing still
gets done.
Summary and Closing thoughts by the Scoutmaster:
The meeting lasted 25” and again took longer to type the notes than
was actually spent with the meeting. Attendance was a little light this time and I understand everyone is busy, but…this
is your Troop.
To make sure we do the things our Scouts like to do, they have to be
there when we are planning events.
The events like Water Balloon Fights, Pool Parties, and
Camping opportunities can’t get planned if the Patrol Leaders are not there. Something to remember when you select your Patrol Leaders.
Thanks again to those who showed up!

Wed. April 25 From: TIM
Hello scouts!
At our last PLC meeting, we moved up the date to the Worlds of Fun trip
by one week. We are now scheduled to go to Kansas City on May 12th.
We can still get group rates if we order our tickets by Friday morning. We made the change to avoid a conflict with
the final Saturday of the River Festival.
What I need from everyone is a yes or no if you are going. Everyone’s name is listed below so
use the reply button and highlight, underline, or somehow mark your name and respond yes if you are going, or no if you are
not. I need a response from everyone (adults and scouts)one way or the other.
The Group Rate tickets are
$21.95 and gas will be $7 per scout. Please let me know by Friday or you will be charged the regular rate which
is $37.95 if you decide to go. Adults are charged $23.50 for the advance group rate.
If you are an adult and can drive, let me know that as well. Sorry for the late notice,
but find your name below and let me know right away.
All parents and scouts,
The Scouts will meet
Friday at the scout house at 6:00 pm and leave around 6:30. They should arrive at Hays, Ks around 9:30,
set up tents and head to bed.
On Saturday they will go to their classes
and finish up around 4:00 in the afternoon. That evening there will be swimming in the University pool, and free movies
at the Campus Activity Center.
During the day they will prepare their own meals (all patrols
made menus on Monday) and there is also a concession stand and other snack facilities on campus.
Sunday they will get up, pack everything into the
scout trailer, then eat breakfast on the way home. They should return home by 1:00 – 2:00 pm..
The scouts
will need to bring $7 for gas, $10 for the classes, $5 for breakfast Sunday, plus any spending money they want to bring -
or you want to send! (Whatever you send, they will likely spend!)
The Coleman store will also be on Campus and usually you can
get good camp items for 33-50% off the regular price. Thanks again to all our scouts and parents,
Tim
